Prepare to do Lent generously - 40acts

40acts-do lent generously

February 18th kickstarts Lent 2015 which honours the pivotal point in the history of the church, when Jesus prepared to give himself up as a sacrifice. During the 40 days of Lent, we remember the time when Jesus went into the desert to fast and pray before beginning his work for God. We remember that Jesus was tempted several times by Satan, but was able to resist. Lent is a time of giving things up and it's one way of remembering Jesus' victories and practicing the disciplines of praying and fasting ourselves.

But what if it could also be more than that? What if Lent was a preparation for a lifetime of big-heartedness?

40acts is a generosity challenge which invites people to do Lent a bit differently.

During the forty days of Lent, 40acts participants will be invited to take part in forty simple acts of generosity which will challenge them to ‘do Lent generously’ in in 2015. We encourage you to make use of the resources tailored for use by mall groups such as our Life Groups .

Using 40acts resources

The 'Small Groups' resource pack is a course of seven bible studies, prayers, activities and an event planner for small groups, one for each of the seven weeks of Lent. Each session has been designed to last around 60 minutes. There are three versions of the event planner for you to choose from that are tailored for the scale of event that you want to put on, and these are downloadable from the 40acts website.

We are seeking to learn who Jesus is and to walk in His likeness throughout Lent. This resource is designed to help you do just that but feel free to make adjustments so that you and your group may benefit from this time the most.
